INTERVIEWS

Unlocking insights

Through these interviews, I got the opportunity to delve into discussing water as a vital resource, and to explore the many ways in which it impacts our lives and the world around us. I often mention our own responsibility in caring for the water

"This story was inspired by a woman I met on a sacred hill in Ireland. I couldn’t explain why I was so strongly called to Ireland, but as soon as I met her I knew that I was there to remember. The land here is feminine, like the goddess herself is speaking up through the hills and holy wells. It was an initiation into honoring the divine feminine, remembering the priestess path- a path I didn’t even know I could walk. The priestess has been lost to memory. We must look back into the recesses of subconscious for archetypes of powerful femininity, for they’ve been written out of history. Yet there are those in the world who’ve kept the mystery traditions alive, who still speak the light language of ancient magic, passed through thousands of years of tradition bearing. This is about one of them. "

Last Sunday was the birth, travels and tales of the woman who became St. Brighid. This Sunday Sessions focuses on the goddess traditions that are said to have inspired the life, crafts and teachings of Brighid of the Eternal Flame. Many people interpret this as the Earth Goddess called Bhride, Bride, Brighid, and other similar names.

During this Sunday Sessions we will focus mainly on water, the earth goddess springs, the so called holy wells, water bearing, births, and the overall Rites of Spring Birth.

Where I live, there is usually snow fallen on St. Brighid's Day, at least on the hills and low mountains around Carrowcrory. By the sidereal timed point of Imbolc, a few days later, this snow is melting, going down the geological swallow holes, and then underground, picking up minerals and chelating them on the way underground, and appearing in the natural springs, replenishing the wells, and bubbling up into the turloughs, the temporary lakes in fields at low levels during February. After February this water has gone and fertile meadows grow. Waterbearing and natural birth flows over the land.

During this Sunday Sessions I will be doing very little talking, for a change, but have invited women guests to share their inspirations, visions, quests, 'water bearing' and guidance that flows through them from Imbolc.

This Sunday Sessions will be like a mini Wise Woman online festival.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has given us all a chance to take stock and think about how we want to live our lives.    While for many of us, these changes might be small, for others there was a bigger pull: that of life on the open road in a campervan or mobile home.   Rachel Younger visited Ireland to meet those who have stepped out of their comfort zones for the road less travelled.    On Assignment is ITV's current affairs series presented by Rageh Omaar where ITV News journalists contribute in-depth reports from around the world on the stories behind the headlines.
